OUR STORY
While away at university, founder John Cicerale was pouring samples of his family's Olive Oil for friends, who were intrigued by the distinct and unique flavor. Over the years, tons of friends and family have requested some fresh oil and there simply hasn't been enough room in our luggage to bring back enough for everyone. With so many instant fans, John had the idea that he could start up his own family owned business, based around his love of the EVOO (extra virgin olive oil).
So in 2020, with the world seemingly on hold, John and his sister, Laura, decided to start CICERALE IMPORTS in their hometown of Queens, New York. CICERALE IMPORTS focuses on importing & distributing gourmet Italian products that they can't imagine life without, starting with some of the best EVOO ever known straight from their grandfather's hometown of Torremaggiore in Puglia, Italy.
ZIO SAVINO & EVOO
As first generation Americans, we were lucky enough to go to Italy every year, and every year we brought back this special extra virgin olive oil. It’s the same oil our father grew up with and has been in our family for hundreds of years. As kids we would visit these fields, picking fruit and olives with papa's uncle, Savino, who would tell us stories about the olives, the trees and the area, followed by delicious meals putting it all to use. This is why we created our own brand of EVOO; to honor the legend of Zi' Savino and his special olive, the peranzana of Daunia, with its incredible oil.
